Some changes for 2024 include:
- New youth-only classes and lots throughout the Home Arts divisions.
- Master Maker Award: The award formerly known as the Homemakers Award is renamed to the Home Arts Master Maker Award. Criteria are the same as in previous years: Submit entries in 5 of the 8 Home Arts Divisions, achieving at least one Blue Ribbon in each Division entered.
- Quilts in most Division G classes are entered based on the size of the quilt rather than technique. Size is determined by measuring across the top and down one size, recorded in inches. The Exhibitor Guide will have a table showing measurements corresponding to quilt sizes "Large," "Medium," and "Small." See the "What's New" tab for more details.
- Beverages (Div. L): Beers are identified by lot (major category), with specific types to be identified in the entry title.
- 🌟NEW class under Beverages (Div. L, Class 5) is established for nonalcoholic soda beverages. Youth are encouraged to enter! Must be made from exhibitor-made syrups (no commercial syrups allowed).
- 🌟NEW division, called 👉Kitchen Arts👈 (Div. X - yes, this is really the next Division "letter" for Thurston County!). Every class includes a youth-only lot, and the class for Kitchen Concoctions is a youth-only class. This division includes the following classes:
- Decorative food arts (e.g., cake, cookie, and gingerbread house decoration),
- Dry food mixes, such as baking mix, soup mixes, cookie or cake mixes
- Fancy Appetizers, Garnishes, & Snacks (appetizer plates such as charcuterie, vegetable platters, dry-fruit platters, fancy garnishes like radish roses & snacks like "Ants-on-a-Log")
- Homemade soaps and other bath and body products,
- 👉👉Youth-only 👈👈🌟Kitchen Concoctions🌟 such as homemade salt- & glue-based play doughs & slimes, home grown crystals, lava bottles and snow globes.
