Volunteer at Fair Time!
Learn what goes on behind the scenes to make the Open Class Home Arts Department such a success!
We need help getting Heritage Hall ready for displays, taking in entries (both textile-related and food-related), assisting judges, setting up displays, and handing out entries for pickup after the fair.
Please consider signing up for a shift or two - the Home Arts section of the fair would truly not occur without your help!
Here are descriptions for the various volunteer jobs:
Prep. hall & cabinets for displays: Wear a hair scarf and bring your kitchen gloves - we're going to clean Heritage Hall! Jobs include dusting display surfaces, cleaning cabinet interiors & glass, and helping to set up tables, chairs, and supplies for exhibit intake.
Textile/Contest Intake: We need people to greet entrants, help them find the correct forms, help them fill out forms, help them choose Class & Lot for their entries, and pass them into the main hall to get registered. We also need help organizing registered exhibits to prepare them for judging.
Textile Judging Support: We need volunteers to manage workflow for judges, and to help ensure placing and merit awards are recorded properly.
Display Assistance: Bring your artistic eye and help the Home Arts Department set up the textile displays for the fair. People are needed to fold quilts in preparation for hanging and help set up displays, including needlework, smaller quilts, sewn garments (& other projects), & fiber arts. Volunteers lay or hang items in display cabinets or on the wall.
Food Intake: We need people to greet entrants, help them find the correct forms, help them fill out forms, help them choose Class & Lot for their entries, and pass them into the main hall to get registered. We also need help organizing registered exhibits to prepare them for judging.
Food Judging Support: Food Clerks help where needed, organizing exhibits & paperwork after judging. Instruction will be provided before judging starts.
Home Arts Ambassador: Sell raffle tickets, distribute/receive People's Choice ballots, answer questions, &/or help with make-and-take activity.
